Located near a newly developed area of residential villas along a heavily traveled corridor, the Home Savings & Loan building was to reflect the institution’s desired image of strength and tradition. Responding to the existing conditions of the surrounding site and buildings, integrating residential features into a commercial atmosphere, and providing a high quality workspace led to the design solution. Integrating traditional building materials like brick with contemporary forms and finishes conveyed the client’s desire to relate to the existing community, yet suggest a stable presence in the center of the growing suburban, residential community.
